This year’s event was a great success. Our stand on the Quay Chicane was well-attended by representatives from across the group from project development and customer care to sustainability and operations.
It was very encouraging to see a very buoyant refit and repair market and a lot of interest from American owners who are increasingly keeping their yachts in the Mediterranean for maintenance works.
Sustainability featured prominently at this year’s edition with the sustainability hub next to the innovation exhibition highlighting how the subject has reached the top of the industry’s to do list. Just prior to the show, the second edition of Sustainable & Smart Marina took place, and we were proud to sponsor as well as judge the start up business awards. This year, first prize went to ECOncrete, an award-winning concrete technology for marine infrastructures. It was encouraging to see so many innovative proposals coming from outside the sector.
Attending the show this year was particularly exciting as it was a good representation of where the yachting industry is regarding sustainability. The addition of the sustainability hub was a perfect opportunity to know more about innovative projects that will drive the future of the industry.
One of the stand outs of our show was the buzz surrounding the first haul out on our 4,300t shiplift which occurred just prior and generated a lot of interest around the facility. Finally, and by no means least, this year’s event marked the start of what we expect to be an important chapter in our history as we announced a new joint venture with Al Seer Marine and P&O Marinas to build a new refit and repair facility in the UAE.
