We are proud to have enjoyed over 30 successful years in the superyacht refit market. Throughout our history, every decision has been informed by a commitment to reinvest in our team and facilities, constantly improving to deliver the best service to our clients.

1990

Barcelona

MB92’s journey begins when Mr. Jorge Ventosa Garí forms a private enterprise with 320 million pesetas in share capital to bid for a Technical Area concession for yacht repair. The initial concession covers 25,288 m².

1990

La Ciotat

Co-founders Ben Mennem and Mark Salman start Custom Tenders, building around 80 tenders over six years for some of the most iconic superyachts.

1992

Barcelona

Industry activity starts

Acquisition of a 150-tonne Travelift, providing a total of 15,600 m² surface area for dry dock jobs and 2,500 m² covered storage, with a 400-tonne slipway.

1993

Barcelona

Joint venture & expansion

Joint venture with Pinmar. Construction of a paint shed measuring 75m long, 29m wide, and 25m high.

1994-96

Barcelona

Focus on superyachts

Shift in focus to superyacht repair, maintenance, and reconditioning. Slipway capacity modified to launch yachts up to 50m.

Facilities expanded

11,500m² dry dock for up to seven yachts measuring 80m

Meeting growing demand

Creation of dedicated Project Management, Technical, Administrative, and Customer Service departments.

Expansion of facilities

A new agreement is reached with the Port Authorities to further expand MB92’s concession. The plan is to launch a new system and dry docking repair area for yachts of up to 2,000 tons displacement.

Launch of Compositeworks after acquiring new facilities.

1999-2000

Ongoing development

MB92 contracts Syncrolift Inc. to provide state-of-the-art machinery, with the 2,000-tonne Syncrolift system inaugurated in 2000.

A shift to superyacht refit

Search and acquisition of new facilities in La Ciotat, France following increased demand for services. Compositeworks is officially launched.

100th project

MB92 hauls out its 100th project, motor yacht BIG D, on the new 2,000-tonne Syncrolift.

2007

Celebrates 15 years

MB92 celebrates 15 years in the refit industry and expands its paint shed to 125m to accommodate larger yachts.

International certification

MB92 obtains ISO 9001 for quality management and ISO 14001 for environmental protection.

Compositeworks earns international awards for superyacht refits.

Dry dock expansion

New concession area and Panamax Dry Dock secured with Barcelona Port Authorities.

20-Year milestone

Celebration of MB92’s 20th anniversary with the inauguration of the expanded concession area.

25 years in refit

MB92 marks 25 years of superyacht refit, announcing new developments such as a new 4,800-tonne shiplift and 20,000m2 hardstanding area.

2018

Formation of MB92 Group

MB92, Compositeworks, and Blohm & Voss La Ciotat unite to form the MB92 Group, establishing the world’s largest superyacht refit and repair group.

2019

La Ciotat

Strategic shiplift expansion

MB92 La Ciotat is awarded a 35-year lease for exclusive use of the 23,000 m² 4,300-tonne platform.

2019

Barcelona

The 4,800-tonne shiplift is officially opened, the largest lifting facility specifically for superyachts in the world. Hardstanding capacity for up to 9 yachts of 115m LOA

2020

Group

Launch of an ambitious MB92 Group sustainability plan aimed at reducing the environmental impact of our activities and driving the transition of the superyacht industry to a greener future.

La Ciotat

300t Origins Launch

Opening of a dedicated refit service and facility for yachts between 30m and 50m, serviced by a 300-tonne travel lift and paint cabin.

2022

Barcelona

Celebrating 30 Years

Much has changed in the last 3 decades since we started, but the commitment to listening, learning and improving remains as strong as ever.

La Ciotat

The 4,300-tonne shiplift is completed. The most sustainable development of its kind anywhere in the world, the new facility welcomes its first client onto the hardstanding area which holds capacity for up to 6 yachts of 115m LOA.

2023

MB92 Red Sea

MB92 Group is selected by NEOM to develop a yacht repair centre to support the Sindalah island luxury resort project. MB92 Red Sea is created in 2024

2024

MB92 Golfe-Juan

MB92 Group collaborates with D-Marin Investments to manage a refit facility in Golfe-Juan, near Antibes, for yachts up to 45m LOA. MB92 Golfe-Juan is launched.
